CdLS Sunday Blog Challenge on Monday...Life's Simple Pleasures

Our CdLS blog challenge for Sunday is to list some things that give us simple pleasure. I know, I know, it's Monday, but I figured I would still give it a whirl.
Here are some of the simpler things I enjoy...

being called "General" by my oldest son
my 12 year old's baby soft "kissin" cheeks
hearing Joey play his keyboard
how happy Emma is to see me after preschool class
hearing Abbie sing a song
having my husband rub my feet (when I can talk him into it!)
a tiny kiss or an I love you from the kids
a child's laugh
the smell of fresh cut grass
chocolate covered peanuts
a conversation with a good friend
having someone else unload the dishwasher or fold some clothes
a good book and a little time to read
a crisp, cool morning and beautiful fall afternoons

Another part to the challenge is to write about if I think I would enjoy different simple pleasures if I did not have a child with special needs. My answer is no, I don't think so. I would still like the same things, and having a child with special needs has taught me to slow down a little and take things a day at a time. Having Joey has just added more pleasures to my life.

  1. Isn't it amazing how awesome kisses and "I love you"s from our kids make us feel? :-)

    Happy Monday!

  2. Thanks for participating. I don't think it makes a bit of difference if it is a day later.

That is a great list. Getting kisses and hugs from your kids gets a lot harder as they get older. :)

  4. Great list!! I love to see people be thankful for the "simple" things in life! I did a post similar to this about a year ago, and it is therapeutic to think about the simple things that give us pleasure!

Thanks for the reality check...chocolate covered peanuts are GREAT ;-)

  5. I love the family picture!! John is getting so grown up and handsome! Thanks for the kind words on my blog. I have to say, your poem is beautiful!!! You are truly gifted. You should consider writing when life "slows down" - whenever that is!!
