Wednesday 5/30/12

Let's see...today was rainy and cold. Joey was supposed to go to his weekly horseback riding therapy session today but we decided to cancel because of the weather. I had to work 3:30 - 8:00 p.m. anyway so it would have been difficult for Shawn to get him there with all the kids. Hopefully he can make up the session Monday cause he won't be able to go next week cause his surgery is scheduled for June 6th. He had a good day otherwise, just into everything like usual! John was supposed to have a baseball game at 8:00 tonight but is was cancelled because of the weather also and rescheduled for tomorrow night. He worked all day, had practice and helped Emma put songs on her MP3 player. Tommie didn't have practice today but has a double header in Stromsburg tomorrow night which now means we will have to figure out if somebody can get to his games and John's. Always a thousand things going on in a day around here. John and Tommie both were mentioned in the Columbus Telegram today for their games last night so that is cool. Here are the links to the stories: John - Seniors' pitching shuts down Hastings Tommie - Junior Reds bounce back with big win The girls played with Cooper, played Wii, played Ipad, and rode bikes outside. They had macaroni and cheese for lunch and macaroni and cheese for supper. A favorite of theirs around here. It was spiraled shaped for supper so not exactly the same I guess. I'm all for a little variety you know. Easton is working on sitting up by himself. Getting close but keeps falling over if we let go. He will get there. Not in any hurry for him to grow up since he's the last baby. He gives the best hugs in the world. Totally knows how to get his way. One week from today and Joey will have his surgery. He is having a fundoplication repair from the first fundo he had 4 years ago and also the surgeon will repair a hernia he has developed in his stomach. He has been having severe reflux problems off and on again since December 2011 and the surgery is the only option we have left. I'm getting pretty nervous and pray everything goes well. Please keep him in your thoughts. I started this blog a few years ago and kept up with it pretty well for quite awhile. It's a great tool for raising awareness about CdLS and what the kids are up to. But unfortunately it has been neglected the last year or so. As the kids have gotten bigger, our schedules have gotten busier, and we also have our sweet little Easton. So now I've decided to keep a journal of sorts of our daily activities so we have something to look back on and keep track of everyone's milestones and family news. Hopefully I will stick to it because I'd love for us to have a way of remembering things that have happened. And hopefully tomorrow I can figure out how to keep my paragraphs separated. I know how to write paragraphs, I promise. One step at a time.

Tuesday 5/29/12

Joey had OT with Trisha today. He did a good job matching correct colors. John worked til 2:00 then had to get to the Legion baseball field by 2:15 for hitting practice then off to Hastings for a doubleheader. They won both games - 1st one 5-1 and 2nd one 7-5. John played 1st base both games and was 2 for 4 batting with a single and a double. Tommie left for North Bend at 4:30 for a double header too. His team lost the first game and won the second game. Tommie pitched the whole first game and did a good job. He had 3 hits. Emma and Abbie had a coach-pitch game at 9;00 tonight. They won their game 9-7. They originally went to the field @ 6:15 cause Coach Shawn thought their game was @ 7:00 but he misread the schedule and looked at another teams schedule. Unfortunately, we didn't have a sitter so I stayed home with Joey and Easton as it is too difficult for one person to take them out somewhere by yourself, especially any kind of ball field as Joey is constantly on the move. I was there in spirit though and cheering for everyone from the comfort of home. Good job everybody!

Monday

Today John and his girlfriend Kortney surprised Emma and Abbie with a trip to the Henry Doorly Zoo in Omaha. They had a great time. Tommie and Shawn mowed the lawn. Easton and Joey kept us busy as usual. Grilled some yummy steaks for supper that Shawn's mom gave us and I made some holiday potatoes. Tried to get some laundry done but it is a never ending battle with 8 people in the house. Over the weekend, the Senior Legion baseball team John plays on won the championship at the 3 day Fremont Roadkill Tournament. They all did a fantastic job. I worked 12-6 p.m. on Sunday, Shawn took Joey to Fremont to watch the championship game and Tommie babysat Easton, Emma, and Abbie. Big dust storm came up Sunday evening around 7:00, followed by heavy rains around 9:00. Got almost 3 inches and flooded streets. Saturday I attended a nice bridal shower for Ashley Buman then worked 4-8 p.m. Shawn stayed home with the 4 littles, John played baseball in Fremont, and Tommie played baseball in Wayne. Unfortunately we weren't able to attend their games. Friday night, (May 25), I took Joey and Emma and Abbie to Fremont to watch John's game. Stopped at Zesto's on the way home. Yum, yum! Thursday (May 24) was Abbie's 6th Birthday. Happy Birthday Sweetie! Had a nice day - Nikki took Emma, Abbie and Cooper to the aquatic center for swimming cause the water park wasn't open that day. Nikki came back to babysit Joey and Shawn and I took the girls and Easton to Tommie's baseball game here in Columbus. Unfortunately, it started to rain and the games were called off. Went to Valentino's for supper and then home for birthday cake and presents. John played baseball in Lincoln. Wednesday (May 23), Easton had his 6 month check up with Dr. Rosenquist. He weighs 21 lbs. 4 oz. and 27 and a half inches long. Big boy, although not as big as John and Tommie were at that age. He's doing well, he's such a joy and makes our whole family smile. He's not a bit spoiled (right!). Tuesday (May 22) the girls had 2 coach pitch games and their team won both games. It is so fun to watch. Shawn is their coach. Nikki watched Joey and I took Easton to their 1st game. I stayed home with Easton and Joey for the second one though as Nikki had to go and it didn't start til after 9:00 anyway. Late night for the girls. That's the last week in a nutshell I guess.
